Car design course
Automotive Design & Marketing Management
BRIEF COURSE INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the course, this first course delivery will be longer than the others since it's the introductory one. Remember to log in if you want to opt for the certificate to justify attendance.
The course is especially intended for engineering students, but anyone can participate. We will see the entire development of a vehicle in a large manufacturer, seeing each and every one of the stages of car design. This will provide you a global vision and a greater understanding in order to obtain more criteria when choosing in which area you want to specialize in the future, and work on your passion: Car design.
Understanding the entire environment surrounding car development will provide us with unique tools to justify our designs, without limiting ourselves to "selling" an isolated car concept. Companies don't have emotions, they understand about numbers. It only matters if your design will be profitable for the company or will lead to bankruptcy.
In this first course delivery we will see some tips about the car designer job and how to dedicate ourselves professionally to this industry. In the other deliveries we will see in detail the different stages of the vehicle design
How to work designing cars?
Designing cars is the dream of many people, instead, it's an unknown area for the rest of the people. Sometimes we don't know what to study to design cars. The car design process is really complex. It will depend on your profile and the path you choose to be able to finish in one of the different areas of car design.
There is no single way to achieve it. The first step will be to correctly identify which area you are most passionate about: finance, design, engineering, conceptual design, marketing, sales, etc. It should be noted that within engineering there are many specializations, all of which are valid for their respective fields. Afterwards, you can specialize even more at a second level. For example, within engineering you can dedicate yourself to thermodynamics, chassis design, engines, etc.
In the future, you will be able to opt for a third level, totally focused and specialized in a particular area. For example, within thermodynamics: internal combustion. This last specialization is not recommended at all unless you have work experience in the sector and you are clear about where to ultra-specialize. Like everything, it is a recommendation and will depend on each particular case.
