The Santa Matilde was a sports car manufactured by Companhia Industrial Santa Matilde in the city of Três Rios (RJ).
In the mid-1970s, engineer Humberto Pimentel Duarte, a sports car lover, had a Porsche Targa 911S and a concern. He disliked the idea of putting his car at risk with daily use.
After a long wait in the queue of a Puma GTB, the president of Companhia Industrial Santa Matilde, manufacturer of wagons and agricultural equipment, gave in to his daughter's pleas. At that time, Ana Lidia was 19 years old and had a dream: to produce a car.
Thus emerged in 1978 the SM 4.1, a sports car with good performance and exquisite workmanship to fill the vacancy left by restrictions on car imports.
It used Chevrolet Opala mechanics, with 4.1L engine, 6 cylinders in line.
