Radford Type 62-2
Radford Type 62-2 is a stunning tribute to the original Lotus Type 62. Three versions of this hand-built car will be built: Type 62-2 Classic, Gold Leaf and the John Player Special version. In Classic version it started at V6 3.5 engine and just 430bhp. However, if you opt for the Gold Leaf, a lot of improvements such as upgraded connecting rods, pistons and camshafts tweaked to deliver 500 hp. The most powerful version is the John player Special. Radford has worked to extract a whopping 600 horsepower.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, with the exception of John Player Specials, which will be available exclusively with DCT.
The Radford Type 62-2 is built with a mix of lightweight body panels made of carbon composite draped over a riveted aluminum chassis. The aim was to ensure the Radford 62-2 was as light as possible. Total weight will be just under 1,000kg.
Radford wanted to ensure the high quality standards of the car, so it put Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button in the handling of the car.
The mirrors have been replaced by cameras, and a 6.0-inch TFT display has been installed behind the steering wheel to provide the driver with all the key information he or she may need. It's a lightweight exotic car inspired by vintage racers, but it's also intended to be a practical, usable road car.
The Radford Type 62-2 is an exotic sports car. Therefore, it will be manufactured in limited series in partnership with Lotus, with a very accurate figure, 62 units will be manufactured. Buyers will be able to specify their car however they want, offering practically limitless scope for personalisation.
