Grinnall Scorpion IV
The Scorpion-IV features a lightweight, ultra-rigid space frame chassis to which the composite body is bonded. The result is an exceptionally strong structure; a platform for the S-IV's signature smooth and well-controlled ride, precise handling and excellent grip. Prototypes began to be developed in 1998, and in 2005 it was launched on the market.
It's a four-wheel, 20-valve, six-speed, turbocharged Scorpion IV takes the latter's minimalist approach, innovative engineering and aggressive design. Power is provided by an Audi 1.8-litre turbo engine driving a 6-speed gearbox. The standard engine makes 225 hp/250hp , but can be tuned up to 300 hp. There is a version 1.9 that can reach 500hp.
The bodywork is made of kevlar/carbon composite. The front suspension is double wishbone in oval tubes. Rear suspension are ultra-stiff trailing arms designed especially for the Grinnall Scorpion IV. Damping is provided by a fully adjustable gas unit from Ohlins, manufactured in Belgium by PHM Engineering. The brakes are from Lotus, provided by Monster Brakes, and are 283mm with 4 pistons.
