Aerodynamic and mechanical requirements greatly influenced the shape and proportions of the Super 3. This is most notable in the cast aluminum structure that forms the front of the vehicle while also directing air to the side-mounted cooling packs.
The Morgan Super 3's construction is another major innovation for Morgan, marking the brand's first use of monocoque construction. It also means that the Morgan Super 3's body is not mounted on a wooden base, a common feature of every Morgan firm from its beginnings. Instead, the entire body is made of super-formed aluminum.
The biggest change is that it has stopped using a motorcycle engine, as has traditionally been done in these classic three-wheelers. In its place, a Ford 1.5 three-cylinder engine has been installed. This engine is more than enough to develop 118 hp and 87 Nm of torque, keep in mind that the Morgan Super 3 weighs just 635 kg. The power is sent to the wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission from the Mazda MX-5.
