McMurtry Spéirling
The McMurtry Spéirling is a record-breaking single-seat electric car prototype that debuted at the 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The car was developed by McMurtry Automotive, a startup company registered in the United Kingdom.
The prototype is the first step in showing what customers will experience on the road and on the track. It is not currently used in a racing series, but it meets relevant motorsport safety requirements and features crash structures and a carbon-fibre monocoque chassis with integrated rollover protection. Its unique performance differentiator is the blower-driven downforce system, which generates 2,000 kg of downforce from 0 mph.
On June 26, 2022, the Spéirling set a new hillclimb record at the Goodwood Festival of Speed by completing the 1.87-kilometre course in 39.08 seconds.
The car can accelerate from zero to 300 km/h in 9 seconds and reaches an estimated top speed of over 320 km/h. Estimated driving time on a race track at GT4 speed is around 25 minutes.
The car features rear-wheel drive with two electric motors housed in a specially designed "e-axle" and uses carbon brakes. The monocoque can accommodate a driver who is between 150 and 200 cm tall. The battery is housed in a separate safety cell inside the monocoque.
McMurtry Spéirling price: Spéirling Pure starts at £820,000 + tax if applicable and shipping.
