Prodrive P25
In 1997, Prodrive introduced the two-door Subaru Impreza World Rally Car (WRC), which won the manufacturers' championship in its first season. WRC97 delighted racing fans around the world and spawned street versions of the iconic.
Now, 25 years after WRC97, we introduce the Prodrive P25, a modern take on the rally icon, using its championship-winning DNA to reimagine, redefine and reinvent it to create the ultimate road haul race car . Peter Stevens, who designed the original Impreza WRC in 1997 and the subsequent limited edition Prodrive Impreza, redesigned many features for the P25. Working with the Prodrive engineering team led by Technical Director David Lapworth, the modern version carries on to the heart and spirit of the original WRC97.
A limited number of 25 highly personalized and exclusive vehicles will leave our UK headquarters in 2023, including right-hand drive and left-hand drive models.
The Prodrive P25 is the latest Subaru Impreza to come out of the Prodrive garage, and they have made sure to make it an upgrade in all respects.
By using carbon composites in the bodywork, they have been able to reduce the overall weight of the car to just 1200 kg, and the addition of lightweight race seats, carbon door cards, and a lithium-ion battery inside also contribute to a better power-to-weight ratio.
Furthermore, the brand new 2.5-litre Prodrive-built turbocharged four-cylinder boxer engine is based on the EJ25 and now produces a staggering 450 BHP. All this makes the P25 lighter, more powerful, and even better handling than its predecessor.
The engine is mated to a six-speed sequential transmission with helical gears and semi-automatic shifting via a single paddle on the steering column that enables precise gear changes in 80 milliseconds.
The car features WRC-style launch control that combines fly-by-wire throttle and clutch in the floor-mounted pedal box to automatically shift the car into first, second and third gears. This optimal acceleration from a standstill without any driver intervention allows the P25 to reach 60 mph from a standstill in less than 3 seconds.
The ECU and custom ECU offer Road, Sport and Sport+ maps that let you control the progressively increasing turbo charge, a sharper throttle for quicker engine response and finally an anti-lag system for instant power delivery out of every corner. The system also electronically controls the differential for more precise handling.
Prodrive P25 price: £460,000
