Palatov D2

Picture
The purpose of the Palatov D2 is to address the need for a lightweight two-seat sportscar that is both track ready and street capable. This is accomplished by using a 50-state emissions legal engine package and a chromoly space frame chassis architecture. The chassis features significant advances in rigidity and safety. Roadholding and ability to handle power are enhanced thanks to a patent-pending suspension design.

For street use the D2 is sold as a kit with the customer purchasing and installing the powertrain separately from third-party vendors in order to comply with kit car requirements. A variety of assembly and assembly assistance options are available including turn-key delivery from third party sources.

The D2 is designed primarily to use the GM LS3 'e-Rod kit' which is 50-state emissions compliant, however the strength and adaptability of the D2 chassis allows numerous other engine options. The design is mid-engine, rear wheel drive, weighing approximately 1,900 lbs with power in the 400-700 hp range depending on engine choice. A large number of transaxle types can be used, including those from Porsche, Mendeola, Subaru, Hewland and others.

Palatov D4

Picture
The Palatov D4 is designed to make genuine race car performance accessible to trackday enthusiasts at a modest cost. It features advanced underbody aerodynamics, a long arm double wishbone suspension with pushrod activated coilover dampers and an optional all-wheel drive system. Power comes from a variety of motorcycle engines with typical configurations using 1.0L or 1.3L units of 175-200 hp. Typical weights are in the 800-900 lbs (360-410 kg) range resulting in exceptional performance.

The AWD system is unique in this weght class and allows the use of high power turbocharged engines of over 300 hp. In this configuration the car can have over 700 hp/ton power to weight ratio and still be able to put the power to the ground.
The low weight and compact size enables towing the Palatov D4 to the track behind ordinary cars on a lightweight trailer. The D4 has been designed to enable easy operation by one person, without the need for support crew.

Despite its small size and light weight, the D4 offers a very high level of safety to the driver. The frame is constructed of aircraft-grade chromoly (4130) steel tubing and complies with racing regulations for cars weighing up to 3 times as much. The driver's feet are entirely behind the front wheels and suspension and the car has generous crush zones front, rear, and on the sides. Additionally, the driver is completely enclosed in a composite 'Pod' and further cushioned by a form-fitted BSS seat. Six-point race harness is standard.

Being highly optimized for the track, the D4 is not suitable for the street and there are no streetable options offered.

Palatov D1

Picture
The mission of the Palatov D1 is to push the boundaries of what a modern vehicle is capable of while making its performance accessible to dedicated track enthusiasts.

The D1's 1,000hp/ton power/weight ratio is made usable by its innovative AWD system, the broad and flat torque curve of its 3.0L Hartley V8 engine, and advanced electropneumatic paddle shift system. While it would take a pro-level driver to extract this car's full potential, it can readily be driven by trackday participants of moderate experience. This usability is illustrated in our video of the D1 being tested in the tight confines of a kart track in damp conditions. The D1 features optional one-piece carbon body shell and advanced underbody aerodynamics with full-length tunnels.
The Palatov D1 is only 1/10th the cost of the LMP2 racer, both in initial purchase and operational costs. The D1 puts the performance of world's top racecars within reach of many dedicated enthusiasts to own and operate on a regular basis.

Palatov D1PPS

Picture
Based on the winner of the 2012 Pikes Peak International HillClimb Unlimited Class

Designed specifically for hillclimb competition, the D1PPS (Pikes Peak Special) uses the longer D1-derived chassis and bodywork, with substantial additional rollcage and other reinforcements to comply with unique requirements of the Pikes Peak hillclimb.

The Palatov D1PPS can use either Hartley H1 V8 or Hartley H2 4-cylinder, either turbocharged or normally aspirated, with other powertrain configurations possible.

The engine is coupled to a custom Hewland sequential gearbox with Geartronics electronic paddle shift and the Palatov proprietary lightweight AWD system.

Carbon body, floor and pilot pod complete the spec. The D1 incorporates all the modularity and safety features of the Palatov Modular platform, shared with other Palatov cars.

Palatov Motorsport can custom-build and configure a D1PPS to a customer's precise specifications. Factory engineering, fabrication and development support is available.
