Reborn classic car brands
It is not out of the ordinary to see deadiconic car brands being revived again, Volkswagen officially bought Bugatti back to life in 2000 and now Bugatti produces one of world’s best hypercars. There are several such car brands as Bugatti that were closed due to unfavorable conditions butrecently, they have been bought back from the grave and now their new management is trying its best to bring them back into the limelight. Here are some such exotic car brands:
Delage Automobiles
The French luxury automobile company was founded in 1905 by Louis Delage and started its production of cars by a single cylinder engine car and then gradually moved to four and six cylinder cars. Delage automobiles bagged victories in several racing competitions and made a name for itself. The company was taken over by Delahaye in 1935 but maintained its original heritage. Depressed financial conditions after the WW2 and the government taxes on engine above 2000cc forced the Delage automobiles to cease its production. Nowadays, finely maintained Delage classic cars costs around millions of dollars. The company was bought back to life in November 2019. A hybrid supercar D12 is planned to mark the re-emergence of the brand in the market, the D12 is a hybrid supercar powered by a mid-positioned 7.6l V12 that generates 900hp coupled with electric motors generating 330hp, combined together the car has 1230hp mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Weighing at only 1400kg, the car takes its styling clues from F1 cars and fighter jets. Production is set to begin in 2021 with a price tag of $3 million and only 30 Delage D12 are planned to be produced. Austro Daimler
The Austro-Hungarian automaker remained in the business from 1899 to 1934, the company built their first twin cylinder 4hp car in 1900 and then moved on to manufacturing different engines for a variety of customers including trucks, buses and trains. Ferdinand Porsche, the founder of the famous carmaker Porsche worked as a technical engineer at Austro Daimler and also helped in the reforming the brand but unfortunately abandoned the company in 1923 when the financial woes increased. The company re surfaced in 2019 with a plug in hybrid supercar called Bergmeister ADR 630, powered by AMG’s 4.0l inline six cylinder engine that combined with three electric motors produces 1,198hp and 1600Nm of torque, this is enough to pull the car from a standstill to 60mph in just 2.5 seconds and a claimed top speed of 200mph. The ADR 630 resembles quite a lot with the Mercedes AMG GT and also shares some body parts with it. The longer front and a bulkier yet compact rear end gives the car a unique road presence. The company was originally named TG John and Co.Ltd and was founded in 1919. Their first car model 10/30 gained fame due to its excellent built quality, the company also worked as a sub-contractor for rolls Royce during the second world war. Their most iconic car, the Alvis TF21, was launched in 1966 and had a top speed of 127mph. After remaining in the car manufacturing business for 47 years, Alvis ceased production in 1967. The Alvis car company has now resumed the limited production of its iconic models that are loyal to their original design language and thanks to the integration of modern technology are emission compliant. One of the cars is the Bertelli sports coupe, it is powered by a 4.3l six-cylinder engine that can go to 60mph from a standstill in 10 seconds. The production of the sports coupe is limited to only 25 units. P50 cars
The three wheeled P50 has the honor of being recognized as the world’s smallest car, the original P50 was made from 1962 to 1965 by Peel engineering company. The car’s equipment only comprised of a single headlight and a windscreen wiper and there was no reverse gear, instead it had to be physically pushed when required. The car costed £199 in 1963 and only 50 units were produced. One of the Peel P50 was sold at a record $176,000 at an auction in 2016. In 2010, Peel engineering decided to bring the iconic car back into the market, but with a few modifications. The exterior is 100% same but in order to make it road legal the company had to tweak the suspension, steering and drive train, and the car has now an actual reverse gear. Interestingly the newer P50 produces less power (3.35hp) than the older one (4.2hp). Petrol variant costs £14,879 whereas electric variant is also available and is priced at £13,679. The top speed for both the variants is a whopping 45km/h and it was reported in 2018 that the company sells around fifteen vehicles annually. Vanwall group
Vanwall GPR V12, instead of VW5 model
Vanwall was a racing team which actively participated in the Formula One during the 1950s and has the record of winning the Constructors championship trophy by beating Ferrari in 1958. The company founder tony Vandervell was an industrialist who donated a healthy amount of his fortune building a racing car company that would later beat Ferrari. The company had a troubling start but eventually refined their race cars which led to the 1958 victory. Unfortunately, Vanwall starting to crumble after 1958 partly due to the illness of Tony Vandervell and 1961 was the last year any Vandervell car raced. In order to commemorate the 1958 victory of Vanwall over Ferrari, the Vanwall group which is the successor to Vanwall racing team has decided to build six Vanwall cars, each to the same specifications as the original one. The company will use blueprint drawings to make every part according to original specifications and it will take them thousands of skilled hours to build just six of the Vanwall vw5.
