Although, the country has a mature auto industry, but it is generally limited to mass market vehicles. However, the situation is beginning to change and there have been some advances with regards to exotic sports car brands. Here we will be talking about some of the sports cars that trace their origin back to India. Vazirani ShulIntroduced in 2018 to the general public, Vazirani Shul is a hybrid hyper car. The car has prominent sporty looks which makes it stand out from the rest of supercars. The owner of Vazirani has already worked with renowned companies such as Rolls-Royce, Volvo, Yamaha and JLR as a designer which allowed him to use his expertise in designing this car. The car is powered by four individual motors on each wheel pushing out 1000hp combined as well as a micro-turbine jet engine which works as a generator for electric batteries. Though the powertrain looks enticing the company hasn’t released any 0-60mph figure.The entire carbon fiber chassis makes the Vazirani Shul extremely light weight yet maintains the structural integrity. Some parts of the car are left unpainted in order to showcase the carbon fiber work. As of now, there has been no official statement on car’s launch date, but it is expected to be released in 2021. Motormind Hyperion 1Hyperion 1 is a one-off car whose design language has been inspired by an F1 car. The car made its debut in 2016 and was able to make it to the list of successful Indian supercars. Powering the car is a Hyundai Sonata’s 2.7-liter V6 engine producing 173hp and 236Nm of torque. The engine is mounted in the rear and drives the rear wheels providing an engaging driving experience. The car has been tuned to provide the best balance between the track and road, without compromising on comfort. Interior features a host of futuristic styling techniques. The carbon fiber center console wraps around the dashboard and the entire steering wheel is 3D printed in the company’s own 3D printing facility, ambient lighting further adds to the sporty character of the car. Motormind expects to start taking orders by 2021, pricing details are not yet revealed. Tamo RacemoTamo Racemo was a Tata motors project that eventually got cancelled due to Tata’s cost cutting plans. Racemo was designed at Tata motors design studio in Turin, Italy and it truly exhibited the Italian design language. The two-seater coupe had a unique character featuring scissor doors and was supposed to be powered by a 1.2L turbo charged petrol engine pushing out 187hp and 210Nm of torque at 2500rpm. The company claimed that it was capable of doing 0-60mph at less than 6 seconds. The car’s chassis construction was developed by Marcello Gandini, who is also famous for the development of Lamborghini Miura and Countach. Tamo Racemo would have been a success had the Tata motors decided to go on with the project, it would have seriously challenged the Mazda Miata also known as Mx-5. Its 0-60mph figure was 1.3 seconds less than the top of the line Miata and its looks were also unrivalled. Hradyesh Morris StreetHradyesh specializes in making custom made luxury cars, Morris street is their first masterpiece edition supreme luxury car launched in 2011. The main purpose of Morris street is to promote the concept of exclusive hand-crafted luxury cars. The car has the honor of being India’s first street rod car, according to Hradyesh. According to some unofficial sources, the car is powered by a 1400cc custom block engine that produces 90hp and 120Nm of torque, 0-60mph figure is estimated at 12 seconds. Though the performance figures are a bit disappointing, but the car lives up to its main selling propositionthat it is India’s first fully handcrafted and custom-built luxury street rod car. Mean metal motors is a venture of three students who aspire to be the Volkswagen of India. Their flagship product is the M-zero, the car is India’s firstall-electric super car. The company is currently undergoing comprehensive structuring, exploring ways to secure funding and signing deals with international suppliers for their go-kart and the M-zero project.
The M-zero looks like a miniature version of the Lotus Evija and the official figures related to the M-zero state 500hp output, a range of approximately 300km on a full charge and a 0-100km/h time of less than 3 seconds with a top speed of 275km/h. As of now, there have been no announcements on the official release date of the M-zero.

Other track focused sport car, the Ligier JS2 R. The Ligier JS2 that finished second in the 1975 Le Mans 24 Hours is considered the successor of this car.
