Affordable sports carsAlmost all the sports cars are expensive and are out of reach for an average car buyer, but it does not mean that you have to miss out on the fun that a sports car has to offer. Today, we will talk about some of the sports cars that are affordable and are fun to drive as well. List of sports cars: Ginetta G40 JuniorThe British company Ginetta has been producing handmade road and race cars for more than 60 years and has gained a reputation for being one of the well-known British race car brands. The Ginetta G40 Junior is based on the G40 platform and offers the best introduction to sports car racing for beginners. The car only weighs 830kg and is powered by Ford’s 1.8L Zetec engine producing 100hp with a top speed of 120mph (193km/h). The G40 junior has all the features one expects from a track-focused car and still, it is road legal. The car is best suited for young enthusiasts who want to get their hands on an entry-level race car. It’s affordable price of just £3500+VAT (€39,270) further makes it an attractive option. ACR StrykerThe Australian company ACR industries and their project Stryker are a relatively newer entrant in the affordable sports car niche, the Stryker is based on a modern interpretation of the iconic Shelby Cobra combining performance with reliability and comfort. The car is available in a soft-top or a removable hardtop version. It is designed to accept all the mechanicals including the engine, suspension, and even the dashboard from Ford FG Falcon XR8, and can be assembled with basic tools and knowledge. The Stryker is based on a unique computer designed aluminum monocoque chassis with 16 individually hand-laid fiberglass body panels. ACR is supplying the soft top version with body and chassis (including doors, bonnet, and boot lid) at $25000 (€21,260) and the hard-top version with the same parts for $28,000 (€23,811). Zenos E10Founded in 2012, the company’s founders aimed to produce a sports car that was easy to purchase and maintain for an average customer. Zenos currently manufactures and sells three variants of a lightweight and high-performance car known as E10. The E10’s front looks like a miniature version of a Mclaren, which should not come as a surprise since the company’s cofounder had a working experience at Mclaren. The single purpose of E10 is to deliver an exhilarating performance that comes from its mid mounted 2.0L engine that pushes out 200hp and 210Nm of torque, making it possible to clock 0-60mph in just 4.5 seconds. Thanks to the use of extensive lightweight components the E10 weighs only 700kg. A wide array of customizations can be ordered depending upon the customer's taste. The upper variants known as the E10s and E10r can essentially be called E10 on steroids, as they provide considerably more punch than the standard E10. The base variant E10 starts at $39,500 (€33,590). Bertini GT25The Bertini GT25 is a kit car that is built on the iconic BMW Z3. The body panels of GT25 can be fitted to all the versions of Z3, the Z3 was produced between 1995 and 2003 and is available relatively cheap. The Bertini retains the doors, screen, and soft top of the original BMW vehicle, only the bonnet, boot lid, bumpers, wings, and lights are removed and replaced with the body panels of GT25, for which minimal modification is required. The GT25 aims to combine British-Italian style with German reliability and it successfully does so. Bearing in mind the impressive style and looks, the kit isn't expensive and costs only $6300 (€5,357). DDR Grullón GT8The DDR Grullón GT8 is another affordable kit supercar that is based on the 1997-2002 Chevrolet Corvette C5. Though the kit is priced competitively and includes several parts, it still lacks many important parts required to build a complete car. Nearly all the body parts, lights, and dashboard are provided in the kit, the rest of the parts (donor parts) are to be purchased separately. Donor parts (parts not included in the kit but are needed to build the car) are approximately 50% Corvette C5 parts and 50% Porsche Boxster parts. When completely assembled, the car provides enticing looks that are nothing short of an expensive supercar. The 5.7L V8 engine from the C5 corvette provides close to 350hp and 495Nm of torque. The DDR Grullón GT8 kit costs $17,995 (€15,303).
