All French Car Brands List

At drivingyourdream we bring you a complete list of French car brands. We're dedicated to low volume car brands and to offer free automotive design courses. In 2016 we did the world largest list of all car brands in current production; maybe you didn't know how many car brands are there in the world, but there are currently more than 3.300, and now we try to keep it updated. It is a rather laborious work, of constant investigation, for which we greatly appreciate the collaboration of others, since it is hard for us to follow all sources of information.

Today, France is the 10th largest car manufacturer in the world and the 3th largest one in Europe, after Germany and Spain. Although the List of automobile manufacturers of France includes more than 100 brands, we can mention two large automotive companies:

Stellantis: Composed of Peugeot, Dongfeng-Peugeot-Citroen, Opel/Vauxhall, DS, Citroen, they were mostly part of the PSA Group.

Renault Group: Renault, Alpine, Dacia, Samsung Motors and Nissan with 43% shares. It is currently focusing on forming the group: Renault – Nissan – Mitsubishi Alliance (See more)

France produces 6 to 8 million cars every year. Practically 700,000 people work for 5,000 automotive business directly or indirectly related to the automotive industry.

France stands out with its solid innovation ecosystem, which includes some automotive mobility clusters: Future Automotive Cluster, Id4Car, Cara and Mov'Eo. France is the country in Europe with the highest number of patents per year.

France is outstanding in the competition in sand circuits, either for its car cross or its Dakar SUVs and racing buggies. France is synonymous with racing, both on dirt tracks and in closed speedways, the heritage of the 24 hours of Le Mans is latent in its Sport Prototypes, and then it is reflected in the high level that French sports car brands demonstrate
