At drivingyourdream we bring you a complete list of Portuguese car brands, since we know almost all car brands in the world. We're dedicated to low volume car brands and to offer free automotive design courses.

In 2016 we did the world largest list of all car brands in current production; maybe you didn't know how many car brands are there in the world, but there are currently more than 3.300, and now we try to keep it updated. It is a rather laborious work, of constant investigation, for which we greatly appreciate the collaboration of others, since it is hard for us to follow all sources of information.

The automotive industry is a key actor of the Portuguese economy. Portugal has more than 220 car supplier companies and 4 major car manufacturers: PSA Peugeot Citroen, Toyota/Salvador Caetano, Volkswagen AutoEuropa and Mitsubishi Trucks.

There are approximately 5.8 million registered vehicles in Portugal. In 2019, Portugal sold a total of 267,828 cars. Most of these vehicles are passenger cars, which is an increase of 20.5% compared to 2018. Portugal’s automotive industry consists of 29,000 companies manufacturing automobiles and components, creating 124,000 direct jobs and generating a business volume of 23.7 billion euros.

In recent years, it has become more and more important because it plays an important role in the economy's GDP. The automotive industry accounts for nearly 8.5% of Portugal’s industry and 2.1% of the Portuguese economy industrial production. This sector accounts for 11% of Portugal's total exports.
