In 2016 we did the world largest list of all car brands in current production; maybe you didn't know how many car brands are there in the world, but there are currently more than 3.300, and now we try to keep it updated. It is a rather laborious work, of constant investigation, for which we greatly appreciate the collaboration of others, since it is hard for us to follow all sources of information. Automobile industry is a very important business in Russia, with approximately 600,000 employees directly involved. Russia has produced about 1.5 million cars in 2020, and it's among the ten countries in the world with the largest number of cars manufactured. In the same way, Russia is the 13th country with the highest number of car brands. The main local manufacturers are AvtoVAZ and GAZ, with KamaZ the leading heavy-duty vehicle manufacturer.Eleven foreign automakers have production operations in Russia. Russia is the leader in the manufacture of vehicles called Snow and swamp-going vehicles, or also known as All-terrain vehicles on low-pressure tires. The Russian Empire has a long history of mechanical development. In the 18th century, Ivan I. Polzunov built the world's first two-cylinder steam engine. Around 1805, the Russian Ivan Kulibin designed a pedal-powered vehicle assisted by a steam engine. This invention shared many elements with the current cars, such as brakes, gearbox, steering wheel and axles with bearings. Fyodor A. Blinov invented one of the world's first tracked vehicles in 1877. In 1896, Yakovlev & Freze, the first gasoline engine car in Russia, was manufactured at the Yakovlev Engine Factory and Freze carriage manufacturing workshop. How many car brands are in Russia?

We're dedicated to low volume car brands and to offer free automotive design courses. In 2016 we did the world largest list of all car brands in current production; maybe you didn't know how many car brands are there in the world, but there are currently more than 3.300, and now we try to keep it updated. It is a rather laborious work, of constant investigation, for which we greatly appreciate the collaboration of others, since it is hard for us to follow all sources of information. The Netherlands has approximately 5,300 automobile companies, of which 300 are auto parts suppliers. Together, they have an annual income of more than 50 billion euros and are jointly responsible for employing approximately 56,000 people. A lot of suppliers, research institutes and automotive hubs are all located in The Helmond area.
