City Transformer

City Transformer is an Israeli technology startup that has developed an ultra-compact electric vehicle for smart cities. In addition to its high-grade, safe and air-conditioned cabin, City Transformer can change its width while driving to avoid traffic and parking problems. These features place the City Transformer in a category of its own by bridging two-wheeled vehicles and regular cars, without their disadvantages.

City Transformer has the potential to completely redefine urban individual mobility around the world and, with its minimal CO2 footprint, enable revolutionary smart mobility concepts for a wide variety of B2C, B2B and B2G offers.

The Israeli company tries to address the following problem: For many of the 4.2 billion people who live in cities, urban traffic and the associated parking struggle. Over 50 % of space in European cities is occupied by cars.For example, on average, drivers in New York and Paris search 230 hours per year for parking, while drivers in London take as much as 270 hours per year.

Within the European Union, congestion in urban areas causes additional costs of almost 100 billion euros a year, which is equivalent to 1 % of the GDP.

Besides this, the urban mobility within the EU accounts for 40 % of all CO2 emissions and 70 % of other pollutants. It is a fact that conventional cars are inefficient in urban areas: the available seats are hardly used, the available speeds are not needed (the average speed in the city is 17 km/h) and each car is driven only 5 % of its entire lifetime.   

Based on these facts, City Transformer has worked on a revolutionary new driving experiences that are as comfortable as those in "real" cars, but which can be adapted to all daily problems and handicaps  in metropolitan areas at the push of a button.

​City Transformer is a foldable urban e-vehicle platform that can change its width from 1.4 meter to 1 meter while driving. The vehicle consists of only 1,500 parts, very low figures in contrast to classic cars with up to 25,000 parts.

City Transformer is full electric, both wheels on the rear axle are individually driven by two electric motors. The top speed is 90 km/h when unfolded and 40 km/h when folded. The range is 180km, with the fast recharge, the battery recharge time to 80 per cent is just 30 minutes.
